Levalbuterol is used to treat wheezing and shortness of breath that commonly occur with lung problems (e.g., asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). Controlling these symptoms can decrease time lost from work or school. Levalbuterol is a bronchodilator (beta-2 receptor agonist) that works by opening breathing passages to make breathing easier. How to use LevalbuterolRead the Patient Information Leaflet for instructions on proper use of this medication and the proper cleaning of the mouthpiece. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.Shake the canister well before each inhalation and test spray. Follow the instructions for test sprays in the air if you are using a new canister or if you have not used it for 3 days or more. Avoid spraying the medication in your eyes. A fine mist is a sign that the inhaler is properly working.Take the cap off the mouthpiece. Place the mouthpiece near your mouth and exhale. Place the mouthpiece fully into your mouth and press the inhaler as you breathe in deeply. Hold your breath for 10 seconds if possible to allow the drug to be absorbed. If more than one inhalation is prescribed, wait at least one full minute between inhalations. If you take other asthma drugs by mouth or with inhaling devices, ask your doctor about how to correctly take this medication with your other asthma medicines.Take this medication exactly as prescribed. Inhale by mouth usually every 4 to 6 hours or as directed by your doctor. Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. Do not take more of this medication or take it more often than recommended by your doctor. Use this medication regularly in order to get the most benefit from it. Remember to use it at the same times each day.If you find it difficult to correctly use this inhaler, it may help to use a spacer device with this inhaler. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information. If you notice less effect than usual from this medication, if your symptoms get worse, or you feel you need to take any of your asthma medications more often than recommended, seek immediate medical attention.Keep track of the number of inhalations used from each canister. Discard the canister after you have used the number of inhalations marked on the manufacturer's package. Sprays used to prime the inhaler should also be counted. Do not float the metal canister in water to test if any more drug is left in the canister. Aerius is an antihistamine used to treat the symptoms of hay fever and other allergic conditions such as watery eyes, runny nose, itching eyes, and sneezing. It may also be used to treat hives. Calvasc is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). High blood pressure usually has no symptoms. Having your blood pressure checked on a regular basis is the only way of knowing that you have hypertension. Untreated high blood pressure can lead to serious health problems.Calvasc belongs to a group of medicines called calcium channel blockers or calcium ion antagonists. These medicines work by widening your blood vessels. This makes it easier for your heart to pump blood around the body while also increasing the supply of blood and oxygen to your heart. Calcium channel blockers do not change the amount of calcium in your blood or bones.Calvasc is also used to treat angina pectoris. This pain is due to your heart not receiving enough oxygen. It is felt as a pain or uncomfortable feeling in the chest, often spreading to the arms or neck, and sometimes to the shoulders and back. Calvasc cannot be used for the relief of a sudden attack of angina. Your doctor will have given you other medication to treat sudden attacks. This medication is a retinoid used in the treatment of severe psoriasis and other skin disorders in adults. How to use Acitretin OralRead the Medication Guide provided by your pharmacist before you start using acitretin and each time you get a refill. Aceclofenac belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by blocking the action of a substance in the body called cyclo-oxygenase. Cyclo-oxygenase is involved in the production of various chemicals in the body, some of which are known as prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are produced in response to injury or certain diseases and would otherwise go on to cause pain, swelling and inflammation. Arthritic conditions are one example of this. Aceclofenac is used to relieve pain and inflammation in arthritic conditions. All the medicines in this group reduce inflammation caused by the body's own immune system and are effective pain killers. What is it used for? Each pack contains two types of tablets. The white tablets contain estradiol valerate and the pale brown tablets contain estradiol valerate in combination with norgestrel. Estradiol valerate (previously spelt oestradiol valerate in the UK) and norgestrel are forms of the main female sex hormones, oestrogen and progesterone. Estradiol valerate is a naturally occuring form of oestrogen and norgestrel is a synthetic form of progesterone.WomensÆ ovaries gradually produce less and less oestrogen in the period up to the menopause, and oestrogen blood levels decline as a result. The declining levels of oestrogen can cause distressing symptoms, such as irregular periods, hot flushes, night sweats, mood swings and vaginal dryness or itching.Oestrogen (in this case in the form of estradiol valerate) can be given as a supplement to replace the falling levels in the body and help reduce these distressing symptoms of the menopause. This is known as hormone replacement therapy (HRT). HRT is usually only required for short-term relief from menopausal symptoms and its use should be reviewed at least once a year with your doctorA progestogen (in this case in the form of norgestrel) is needed as part of HRT for women who have not had a hysterectomy. This is because in women with an intact womb, oestrogen stimulates the growth of the womb lining (endometrium), which can lead to endometrial cancer if the growth is unopposed. A progestogen is given to oppose oestrogen's effect on the womb lining and reduce the risk of endometrial cancer, though it does not eliminate this risk entirely. This is known as combined HRT. Cyclo-Progynova is a sequential form of combined HRT. This means that oestrogen is taken on a continuous basis and progesterone is added for a portion of each month. The white tablets taken in the first 11 days of each Cyclo-Progynova cycle contain only estradiol. The brown tablets taken in the next 10 days of each cycle contain both estradiol and norgestrel. After these 21 days you then have a seven day tablet-free break before the next cycle is started, rather like the combined contraceptive pill. This type of HRT is more suitable for women who are still having irregular periods, because it usually results in a monthly withdrawal bleed in the pill-free week. HRT is also sometimes used to prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. The declining level of oestrogen at menopause can affect the bones, causing them to become thinner and more prone to breaking. Oestrogen supplements help prevent bone loss and fractures that may occur in women in the years after menopause. However, in December 2003, a review of the available evidence on the risks and benefits of HRT by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and the Committee on Safety of Medicines (CSM) in the UK, concluded that the risks of using HRT long-term to prevent osteoporosis in women aged over 50 years exceed the benefits. As a result, this medicine should not be used as a first-line option for preventing postmenopausal osteoporosis in women over 50. However, it may be used as a second-line option for women at high risk of fractures who cannot take other medicines that are licensed for preventing osteoporosis. Women considered to be at high risk of developing fractures following the menopause include those who have had an early menopause, those with a family history of osteoporosis, those who have had recent prolonged corticosteroid therapy (eg prednisolone), those with a small thin frame, and smokers. You can read more about the risks and benefits of HRT and other medicines for preventing osteoporosis in the factsheets about menopause and osteoporosis linked below. What is it used for? Hormone replacement therapy to relieve symptoms of the menopause.Second-line option for preventing osteoporosis in postmenopausal women who are at high risk of fractures and cannot take other medicines licensed for preventing osteoporosis. For liquid products, use a medication measuring device to carefully measure the prescribed dose. Do not use a household spoon because you may not get the correct dose.Take this medication 2-3 hours before or after taking any medications containing magnesium, aluminum, calcium, iron, or zinc. These medications react with doxycycline, preventing its full absorption into your bloodstream. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy.Antibiotics work best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant level. Therefore, take this drug at evenly spaced intervals throughout the day and night.Continue to take this medication until the full prescribed amount is finished, even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Chloroquine may also be used with other medications to treat certain less severe (uncomplicated) types of malaria or a spreading infection with another parasite (ameba). Chloroquine is an amebicide and antimalarial drug. It works by killing ameba and the form of the malaria parasite that infects the red blood cells.OTHER USES: This section contains uses of this drug that are not listed in the approved professional labeling for the drug but that may be prescribed by your health care professional.
